Anachronistic and completely unmitigated by aught save their own selfish desires, Evil Priest arrive from Lima, Peru. The three songs that comprise their self-titled debut call to mind some recording washed up on the shore of the beaches of that pandemonium, Lima. Like the virgin copy of a sound that our dimension has since rendered a palimpsest. An alien artifact studied and transcribed without having first been deciphered. Offering a peek into another dimension where society collapsed in 1989 and jungles have usurped the cities as primitive and ancients fear have reclaimed the preoccupation of humans. A time and place in which death metal is played to ward off predators and bad spirits. Performed as it is, here and now by Evil Priest, the demo would appear to have the opposite effect. Haunted by vocals like hypnotic proclamations of unlocked malign spirits; stormy with drums that hold your pulse hostage; riffs like shadow archetypes that leap out from a deeply ingrained collective death-anxiety. Caligari Records presents Evil Priest and their first recording to date.

CVLT NATION: You can smell the stench coming off of every freaking riff, because this band creates the kind of music that opens the doors to HELL!

NO CLEAN SINGING: Evil Priest also have a penchant for spearing the cathartic climaxes of these songs with banshee-shrieking, whammy-bar solos. The abominable vocals also match the dynamism of the instrumental music. With a cavernous quality heavy on the echo effect, these roars and howls are as ghastly and ghoulish as this kind of morbid and merciless supernatural assault demands. So, get your game face on — and prepare to have it mangled and mauled by what you’re about to hear.

DECIBEL: In barely twenty minutes Evil Priest’s self-titled demo packs a potent enough hit to make you think it actually is 1988 and you’re hearing this on a tape because you have to. Ride out that feeling as long as you can.

NINE CIRCLES: this band is the real deal and has the wherewithal to push death metal past the current crop of boundary smashers.

ECHOES & DUST: The sermons starts now, so worship at the altar of Evil Priest...

FETID DEAD: unrelenting throughout the 17 minutes of main tracks, Evil Priest is a demo definitely worth checking out!

VOICES FROM THE DARKSIDE: if you take a deep breath of EVIL PRIEST, you'll inhale the spirit of POSSESSED, INCUBUS and even a little hint of early SLAYER.
