Personae Ingratae // Proselytes (CD)

pStratton Never mind the manifesto crap about authoritarianism and ropes, this album is a visit to a haunted Berlin nightclub where the house band is Johnny Thunders meets Peter Murphy. Raw riffing guitar death rock with the smoothest baritone over the top. Spend more time on your music instead of the baffling artist statement, FFS. Favorite track: King of the Night.

metal29 Too short of a an album even with the extra tracks tacked on, wish it was longer. Great SIsters of Mercy styled band. Heard about them on YouTube and had to buy the physical album as soon as it came out on CD. Favorite track: Fallen Nation.

about

Revel in its driving pulse and its suicidal choruses; Rope Sect feeds upon your lifeforce. Hum along, nod in time, elated for the eschaton. Personae Ingratae is Rope Sect’s debut statement. Ten tracks of sustained diminuendo. Something like gothic post-punk; something like erotic schadenfreude. Angular, inward, self-mutilating . . . this is Rope Sect’s sardonic petition for a final curtain call. Personae Ingratae is a dark and lonely heaven.

Songs I-VI originally released on the Personae Ingratae MC released by Caligari Records.

Songs VII & VIII originally released on the LP version of Personae Ingratae. Mastered by Damian Herring at Subterranean Watchtower.

Songs IX & X originally released on the 7" EP Proselytes. Mastered by Damian Herring at Subterranean Watchtower.

Cadaver Garden: filled with sharp riffs, low humming bass lines, solid drumming and haunting vocals providing you with a dark and memorable listen. Overall, Personae Ingratae is a great listen, one that is unique, highly intoxicating and it is a release that you can leave on repeat without ever tiring of it.

Toilet Ov Hell: Rope Sect remembers that you can be loud and fast and gloomy at the same time; that the expression of numbness or sorrow need not be slowed down to zero bpm or subdued by an utterly dejected performance. On Personae Ingratae the guitars are loud and trashy, the drums are busy and the hooks are haywire.
